> De-accession Program Krenning Group can assist you in planning and executing a De-Accession Program, just like major museums. When I completed my de-accession project, getting rid of stuff collected over 50 years, it opened up vistas in my house I never knew existed, and was profitable too. When you are done, you have a new house, some good write-offs on your taxes, and more room to go out and buy more stuff. First, we create a plan listing every item in the house to be edited out. This can be furniture, clothes, books, knickknacks, paintings and prints, and art work that has been in the basement in boxes for ten years. Next we decide where it will go, balancing value and how easy it is to move out. In order of importance, they are: Auction House, Charities, and Trash Collectors. The auction house is the most important step, as it usually provides 75% of the proceeds of the plan. We can arrange to consign items such as good pieces of furniture, or distinctive items that have value. The next part of the process is the charities. They get anything that can create a greater tax deduction than cash at a sale, primarily clothes and books. There are many good charities, ranging from the Junior League to Community Thrift. After a garage sale, if you want one, the final step is arranging a junk pickup. |
